These on-line courses are accepted for college credit at a number of colleges throughout Delaware, including: Wilmington College, Goldey-Beacom, and Wesley College. And not only do DBA/FEA On-Line Courses help you work toward your college degree, they give you the practical
information that will help put you ahead of your peers when applying for your first job in the banking or financial services business. That's because DBA/FEA courses are designed and administered by the American
Institute of Banking, the organization that has helped educate bankers and bank employees for more than fifty years.

What is the ADVANCE Program?
The Delaware Bankers Association Financial Education Alliance (DBA/FEA) ADVANCE Financial Studies College Program is a college course program for Delaware high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a
finance related college degree and those interested in entering the banking industry directly after high school. The program offers a full curriculum by the American Institute of Banking (AIB), including textbooks for the
students. The courses qualify for college credit through the American Council on Education (ACE) in the lower level division baccalaureate/ associate degree category. These courses are accepted at many colleges across the nation, including: Delaware Technical and Community College, Goldey Beacom College, Wesley College, and Wilmington University. Each course is worth three semester hour credits.

Who is Eligible?:
Delaware high school juniors and seniors with an interest in a finance related college degree and those interested in entering the banking industry directly after high school.

When are the Classes Held?:
In most circumstances, classroom courses are taught in accordance with a school’s academic schedule. For smaller groups of students, a limited number of online, instructor led courses are available for independent
study. Online courses must be completed within a designated 16 weeks period and are scheduled throughout the year.

How Do I Enroll?
High school juniors or seniors interested in the DBA/FEA ADVANCE Financial Studies College Program should contact the Delaware Bankers Association Financial Education Alliance at (302) 322-3455, or by email at
debankers@debankers.com. All independent study students accepted will begin the program by enrolling in the next scheduled Principle of Banking course. Upon successful completion, students may enroll in the next
scheduled course in the ADVANCE program curriculum.

How Much Do the Courses Cost?
The cost of the program includes the necessary materials, including textbooks. When the course is taken online, it is offered for $405 per student. Financing of the ADVANCE program can be done in a variety of ways: the school district itself can fund the program; parents can pay for their children’s placement in the program; or, a limited number of qualified applicants may receive scholarships funded by Delaware banks.

ADVANCE Program Courses:

Principles of Banking: Principles of Banking touches on nearly every aspect of banking, from the fundamentals of negotiable instruments to contemporary issues and developments within the industry. This course is a prerequisite for all other courses in the ADVANCE program.

General Accounting: This course provides a complete foundation in basic accounting procedures, presenting the fundamentals of accounting in a practical, up-to-date, and easy-to-comprehend manner. The goal is to provide students with a strong basic knowledge of accounting terms, concepts, and procedures. Emphasis is placed on developing a firm foundation of fundamental procedures with appropriate repetition of content through the use of examples and color-coded illustrations.

Economics for Bankers: This program introduces the student to the fundamental principles of economics. Special emphasis is placed on macroeconomics and topics of importance to bankers. The course covers the basics of economic theory and includes examples of the application of economics to banking.

Analyzing Financial Statements:
A practical introduction to financial analysis from the viewpoint of the commercial loan officer. This program gives students the skills needed to effectively assess the borrower's ability to repay loans.

Financial Accounting: This course teaches students the information needed to create financial statements, including trial balances, t-accounts, balance sheets, and various other accounts and their respective functions. This course emphasizes current practices of accounting procedures and includes coverage of the latest principles set forth by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
