The Great Investo

The Great Investo is the Delaware Bankers Association Financial Education Alliance's original series of sixty-second radio public service announcements that promote community development, revitalization, and stabilization through financial education targeted to low- and moderate-income individuals.
The Great Investo, is geared to a mass audience and is targeted to a basic level of financial literacy.
Each individual spot is written with the assumption that the listener is a novice in the areas of money management. Topics
provide specific information for the entire population, but are geared toward educating low- and moderate-income individuals
and other underserved segments of the population. Each program attempts to deliver one practical concept of financial
education that listeners can apply to their daily lives. While the information presented will be of use to the community at-large,
topics of particular interest to low- and moderate-income individuals will be spotlighted.
Currently, there are many excellent financial education programs in Delaware. Unfortunately, their effectiveness depends on first capturing their audience in a formal setting such as a classroom or community center. As such, these programs often miss the audience who most needs to hear their message. By broadcasting one-minute "sound-bite-sized" programs throughout the day over a variety of local radio stations throughout Delaware, the messages would reach a broad cross section of the population, including those who would traditionally be resistant to a more formal financial literacy lesson. Program content is reviewed and approved by Dr. Bonnie Meszaros, Associate Director of the University of Delaware Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, for accuracy and substantive content.
